Winning is starting to become the norm for the Lockport Lacrosse Club.
The team, made up of Lockport Township High School District 205 students, won yet another tournament in late May at the Marmion Academy Cadet Shootout.
Lockport went undefeated in its run to the finals, where it played Naperville Central for the title.
In the championship game, Lockport goals were scored by Kevin Wenzel, Johnny Danko and "an amazing last-minute tally" by Andrew Dempsey that sent the match to overtime, according to Chuck Wenzel, club president.
Luke Willson dashed from behind the net to score in overtime and win it for Lockport.
"The game-ender sent gear flying everywhere," Wenzel said.
But tournaments aside, the club also saw great spring seasons from all levels. The varsity went 13-3-1, and the freshman and sophomore team also posted a winning record.
The gains are also being seen past wins and losses, according to Wenzel.
"After having only 26 players and a 13-6 record in 2011, the club looks to have nearly 100 members in 2013," Wenzel said. "Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S., and with amazing finishes like the one Lockport had at Marmion, it is easy to see why."
